Grant Lowe Trustee

Grant Lowe

Grant was appointed as a Trustee to the Eastern Bay Community Foundation early in 2015, representing the interests of the wider Opotiki District.

As a local bussinessman in a large family owned engineering, and commercial hireage business in Opotiki, which he and his wife Raewyn began in 1981, Grant often has his finger on the pulse of what is happening in the Opotiki District. He is often the supplier of essential equipment in times of emergency events in the wider district, and very supportive of the many marae in the coastal region.

He is assisted in the day to day operation of the business by his wife Raewyn and his son Jamie and their team, and quietly moving towards a familial succession plan, so that Grant and Raewyn can enjoy a little down time from their often, frantic business committments.

Having grown up in the town, attended local schools, and raised his own family in Opotiki, Grant is well aware of the strengths and shortcomings in this community which services a much wider rural region. The family have been involved with kindergartens and schools, sporting clubs and projects that have added benefits to the townsfolk of Opotiki including the establishment of the Motu Trails, over many years.

Grant is compassionate and caring in his sponsorship support of community activities, which reflect his personal ethos of working together for the benefit of many.

He enjoys cycling, motor sport and country music, and is a devoted husband to Raewyn, father to Andrew, Jamie and Matthew and an enthusiastic grandad to their grandchildren.

Grant is very approachable and easily accessible, he brings generous support, humour and encouragement, along with a wide network of contacts to the Eastern Bay Community Foundation. Grant currently serves on the Finance, Audit, Risk and Investment Committee of the Board.
